Choosing a design partner
What should I check before hiring a web designer?
Four things. Whether the work is live and checkable, not a concept somebody would like to have built. Whether one team will hold the identity files, the website and the print material, or whether you will be coordinating three suppliers who never speak to each other. Whether you get the files, the site and the working documents at the end, or licence your own brand back. And whether you can see the design before you pay for it.
What does a full brand package include?
Identity (logo, colour, type and the rules that keep it consistent), plus the website, the Google Business Profile, staff uniforms and workwear, print and signage, and branded merchandise. In the Current Connections project that came to seven workstreams in a single engagement, with seven documents handed over at the end.
